MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN

With a Bachelor of Music Arts degree, I also have an interest in sound design and music composition.

Here are a few examples of my work:

CRISSAEGRIM (Original Soundtrack) March 2010 – May 2010

In addition to my level design duties and finding sound effects on our first team game development, I utilized my tools to create an entirely new and original soundtrack. I used the Yamaha PSR-GX76 keyboard, Garageband, and Audacity as my composition tools.

As a fast paced, top-down action shooter, I wanted the music to reflect the intensity of the fight and the game’s sci-fi roots. My two melodic instruments were strings and electric guitar, and the two worked well together in accompanying the other. The guitar was my primary melodic instrument, but I occasionally used the strings to change the sound up, or give a different feel to the music compared to the guitar heavy tracks.

Encapture Explainer Video (Original Soundtrack) September 2013

I was brought on by a company who knew me personally to create the music for a corporate video. My primary task was to compose a short, simple melody that fit with the upbeat, somewhat lighthearted yet serious explanation of the product.

The song went through a number of versions, from solely acoustic guitar to a more complex introduction to longer tuba notes. In the end, both my employer and the client company loved music, and so I felt it worthy to be added to my portfolio. I have cut out the first half of the video, since I did not create any music or content there. Additionally, I have rebalanced the audio as a whole, so the narration is quieter than the original video and the music is louder to highlight my work.

The whole video itself, as I am aware, is still undergoing edits for the final version, but the music works.
